Council
Leadership July 1,
2010 thru June 30, 2011
Chaplain:
Father Peter Gregory
The Chaplain provides spiritual guidance and direction
to the Council. The Chaplain is selected by the Grand
Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and the three Trustees on an
annual basis in accordance with the rules of the Bishop
of the diocese.
Grand
Knight:
Paul E. “Jack” Laviolette, Jr.
The top ranking officer of the Council. He oversees all
Council's activities and is elected by the members of
the Council.
Deputy
Grand Knight:
Douglas W. O’Brien
Second ranking officer of the Council and is elected by
the members of the Council. He shall preside in the
absence or inability of the Grand Knight
Chancellor:
Bernard
G. McDonough
Third highest ranking officer and is elected by the
Council. The Chancellor shall assist the Grand Knight
and Deputy Grand Knight in the performance of their
duties and shall take charge during the incapacity or
extended absence of both. He shall exercise a special
interest in new members and members who are sick or in
distress.
Financial Secretary:
David W. King
The Financial Secretary’s duties revolve around two key
areas of council activities: financial records and
membership records. The financial secretary collects and
receives all moneys that come into the council from any
source. He then turns that money over to the treasurer
for deposit in the council account. This includes
issuing and collecting bills, issuing membership cards,
etc. The Financial Secretaries' appointment (upon the
recommendation of the grand knight and trustees) is
approved by the supreme knight for a period of three
years, and is compensated in a manner approved by the
Board of Directors.
Recorder:
Gino Gennari, Jr.
Keeps the minutes of the meeting and the historical
records for the Council. He is elected by the Council
members. In the absence of the Grand Knight, Deputy
Grand Knight, and Chancellor the Recorder will run the
meeting. Also, he is responsible for the correspondence
of the Council as directed by the Grand Knight.
Warden:
Anthony J. Delmaso
Assures that all members at meetings possess the current
membership card and is elected by the members of the
council. He is custodian of all Council property except
funds and is in charge of properly setting up the
Council Chamber. He directs the activities of the Inside
and Outside Guards.
Treasurer:
Donald O. Westbrook
The treasurer is responsible
for the safekeeping and maintaining records of all
council funds and accounts. He is responsible for
depositing money into the council’s accounts and
provides a certificate of such monies to the grand
knight. He is also responsible for payment of all
expenses.
Trustees:
George P. Anderson Jr.
Paul E. Malatesta Charles F. Wellspeak
The board of trustees consists of three members elected
by the council and the grand knight, who serves as
chairman of the board. They oversee the work of the
financial secretary and treasurer, and with the deputy
grand knight serve on the council’s retention committee.
During council elections, only the three-year trustee is
voted on, with the others moving on to become two and
one-year trustees, respectively. With the assistance of
the other Trustees, oversees the financial transactions
of the Council, review all bills and financial reports
and audit the Council's financial records semi-annually.
Advocate:
Mark T. Brennan
Chief Legal Officer for the Council and is elected by
the members of the Council. The advocate is the legal
representative of the council and serves as the
council’s attorney at trials and investigations of any
interest to the council. While he does not need to be a
member of the legal profession, he should be familiar
with the council by-laws, the Order’s Charter,
Constitution and Laws (#30), Methods of Conducting a
Council Meeting (#1937), and Robert’s Rules of Order.
Inside Guard:
Joseph H. Farrington
The guards have similar responsibilities, but distinct
differences. The outside guard tends to the outer door
admitting visitors and members to the inner door. Once
at the inner door, the inside guard checks to make sure
that their membership cards are current. Guards are in
charge of security at the meetings and to assist the
Warden as needed.
Outside Guard
Michael J. Collins Sr.
The guards have similar responsibilities, but distinct

Guards are in charge of security at the meetings and to
assist the Warden as needed.
Lecturer: John C. Filipi
The lecturer is appointed by the
grand knight to provide both educational and
entertaining programs to the council. He is responsible
for the ‘Good of the Order’ portion of council meetings.
In order to provide members with informative and
educational programs, he must be knowledgeable and aware
of all council programming.
District Deputy:
Michael J. Daley
The District Deputy
is the representative of the Supreme Knight and the
State Deputy and is responsible for the supervision,
growth and expansion, and general care and well-being of
the councils assigned to his district. His
responsibilities include ensuring that his councils
follow the Order’s laws and rules, promoting effective
membership recruitment and retention programs,
identifying and developing new council locations,
assisting councils to conduct relevant service programs,
and monitoring the general financial and social health
of the councils in his district. The District Deputy is
directly reportable to the State Deputy for all
activities within the district and fulfills the very
important communication link between the State and
Supreme Councils and local councils.
